The coats and jackets have been put away and the sun is brightly shining, which means it’s that time again. Time to watch the kids chase down the ice cream truck, while kicking up your feet in a lawn chair, enjoying that summer sun and eating your favorite icy cold treat.
Before you join the kids and order a Screwball, you should know that there are plenty of easy ice cream recipes you can make in the comfort of your own home that are rich in flavor and even some that might even be low in fat.
Maybe you want something more than just ice cream. Perhaps you would like a pie too. Have no fear, the Chocolate Overload Ice Cream Pie is here. Another tasty recipe that stars your favorite fruit, the banana, is this banana rum ice cream created by Cynthe through the blog Figs with Bri. This recipe combines the rich fruity taste of bananas with the bold flavor of a good rum.
I don’t know about you, but one of my absolute favorite flavors of ice creams is cookies and cream. While searching for some fun ice cream recipes to create, I found this blog post for jacked up cookies and cream ice cream. Guilty Kitchen blogger Elizabeth dubs this the “ultimate cookies and cream ice cream.” She also makes a very interestingly delicious looking salted butter caramel ice cream.
If you have ever bought a Frosty from Wendy’s and wondered if it were possible to re-create this amazing treat at home, the answer is yes, you can! Check out this copycat Wendy’s frosty recipe. All you need is milk, Nesquick and ice cream and you will have a delicious summertime treat that will make everyone want to ditch the drive-thru.
If you enjoy the taste of tofu, but have never thought to try it in an ice cream, you might want to try the surprising taste of Apricot and Passion Fruit Soft Serve. This ice cream is made with soy milk and tofu, making it a vegan favorite.
Mangoes are a sweet summer fruit, perfect for smoothies, shakes and you guessed it, ice cream! This mango ice cream recipe found on Kirbie’s Cravings is the perfect summer ice cream recipe. two cups of frozen mangoes, 1/2 cup sugar and one cup of heavy cream make up this original mango ice cream recipe.
You now have some innovative ice cream recipes to try the next time you have a sweet craving for ice cream pie, ice cream cake, or ice cream anything. So the next time you’re in a super market and that cookies and cream ice cream looks oh-so-good, you now have the recipe to make your own, even better version. Oh My Gosh, I remember it well. The “Good Humor Man”? I knew exactly what time he was coming past my house and I’d be waiting. As old as I am, if the good Humor man came past my house nowdays I’d be out at the curb!!!
