Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew – Ginger Beer Review

Posted by John on July 12th, 2010 at 09:41am

Reed’s extra ginger brew recipe comes from Jamaica where the art of home brewing ginger ale (or “ginger beer” as it is called there) is still practiced even today.  Their recipe uses 26 grams per bottle of ginger root, that strong spice that in many cultures is believed to be an excellent digestive aid, arthritis remedy, motion sickness cure, and general all around tonic root.  Aside from ginger, this delicious brew also contains a mix of exotic spices, honey, and pineapple, lemon and lime juices.

The brewing of ginger ales like this one uses techniques that predate the ones used for most modern soft drinks for an all-natural flavor.  Reed’s ginger brews have won numerous gourmet awards and have been the top selling non-alcoholic beverages in natural and gourmet food stores nationwide for years.

Here’s what our reviewers thought of Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew:

“I’m a big drinker. I love drinking pop, juice and flavored beverages. This ginger beer is like nothing I have ever tasted. At first the taste is a little overwhelming, but once your taste buds get used to it, it is very delicious. Adding ice cream would be a great addition, making it a ginger beer float!”

“I’m not a big soda drinker, but trust me – Reed’s Ginger Brew is unlike anything else you have most likely tried before. It has the crisp, sweet bubbly deliciousness of a good soda, but with a pleasant ginger flavor. Unlike most ginger ales, I like that I can actually taste ginger in this. Plus, the natural sugar sweetness leaves you revived and refreshed, and without the syrup-y aftertaste that many artificially-sweetened drinks have. Reed’s Ginger Beer is a great refreshing choice to quench your thirst on a hot summer day.”

“Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew has the slightly spicy flavor of ginger beer and the sweetness of a naturally brewed beverage. The spice is tasty and the slight burn it leaves in your throat is exciting.”

“I love ginger, so I was happy to find a new drink with a refreshing ginger flavor!”

“They don’t lie when they say that this drink has a bite!  There is such a whirlwind of flavor in your mouth with the first sip that you won’t know what hit you.  It’s a great way to wake up in the morning if you’re not a coffee drinker and it tastes great too.  It may be a bit too spicy for some people, but I think the sour-sweet-spicy mixture is so new and exciting that everyone has to try it at least once.”

Reed offers their ginger beer in six exciting flavors:  Original, Extra Premium, Spiced Apple, Raspberry, and Cherry.  All of these are made with fresh ginger, juices, and exotic spices by their brew-masters.  They also offer ginger chews, ginger crystallized candy, ginger ice cream, as well as other gourmet sodas.
