Quick and Easy Fruit Desserts for Summer

Okay, I know we write a lot about desserts here at RecipeLion, but let’s face it….dessert can make or break any meal. It should be a sweet ending to your evening and it should NOT come out of a Chips Ahoy box if it can be avoided.
It is really simple to make a homemade dessert that will impress your friends or family. Especially in summer when you have so many fresh ingredients available to you, why not take advantage of the opportunity? Last night I whipped together a quick blueberry and nectarine crisp. The two fruits go perfectly together with the tartness of the nectarine complementing the sweet blueberries. Of course, you can you whatever fruits you have around, either fresh or frozen, but these two go perfectly in cakes, pies and more!
All I did was cut up the nectarines, toss the fruit with some white sugar and a few teaspoons of cornstarch and put into individual ramekins. You can add any topping you like, but mine had margarine, graham cracker crumbs, sugar and whole wheat flour. I popped it into the over just before dinner and it was ready in 30 minutes, just as we were finishing. The fresh fruit really does give an incredible flavor to this dessert.
