Monthly Morsel Question: If you could only eat with one utensil for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

For the Februrary Monthly Morsel question, we asked you “If you could only eat with one utensil for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? “  While the spoon was a very popular answer, we got some other terrific responses as well.  Check them out:

From Robyn Lee,  The Girl Who Ate Everything

Chopsticks. They’re good for eating dumplings with, and put me in the mindset of “What if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life…”

Then again, I still have my hands.

From Carla Barlar Riggles, The Friendly Frugalista

A fork…’cuz it’s hard to pick up a big chunk of meat with a spoon!

From Danica, Danica’s Daily

My first thought was a “spork” but then I sorta had the realization that doesn’t really count because it isn’t like your utensil set comes with sporks.

If I could only use one utensil for the rest of my life, I’d pick a SPOON! You can use it for every function ~ it works for soups, as a knife to cut into steak and you can even use it to slice/dice pasta to slurp it up!

From Georgia, via email

Of course it would have to be a knife, as it can cut, hold objects in order to be able to eat them, clean and skin undesirable parts of the intended food, and one would even be able to cook the food holding it with the knife on the fire. This is the perfect utensil.

From Sharon, via email

It would have to be a spoon. Have you ever tried eating soup with a fork???

From Pauline, via email

I choose a spoon, because you can eat solid foods as well as liquid foods without the food falling off.

Only a spoon…no leaking, can hold practically everything.

From Janie Hueramo, via our Facebook Fan Page

Is there such a thing as a spork (besides the plastic ones)? If so, that’s what I would use. Many uses for the 2 in 1 utensil.

From Eloise Martin, via email

Fork, as one can always use the fingers.

From Claudine Jaijarat, via our Facebook Fan Page

Chopsticks…’cause beside scooping up your food with them, they can be used as forks or skewer too. For liquids? Well, just pick up your bowl and gulp it down. icon wink Monthly Morsel Question: If you could only eat with one utensil for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

From Roxie Shelton Don, via our Facebook Fan Page

Spoon, with a spoon you could use the edge to cut your food, and you could scoop your food up with the spoon, solids, liquids, whatever you could eat it with a spoon.

From Barbara Lesher, via our Facebook Fan Page

Spoon…you get a lot with it.

From Geraldine Hale, via our Facebook Fan Page

I would say spoon.  Also, you can do some hunting with a spoon.

From Deborah Irish-Galloway, via our Facebook Fan Page

I would pick a fork. There’s not much you can’t use a fork for. You can even scoop things up close to the handle to some extent!

Thanks to everyone for all the fun responses!

My husband always wants a fork, me on the other hand always go for a spoon. It’s good for every thing. I can do with out a fork. If I only had a fork how would I eat my soup which I love.

I would pick the spoon to eat with. You can use a spoon for just about everything.
