Who doesn’t love Easter? It’s the perfect excuse to make some fun Easter dessert recipes, right? Right! It seems that aside from the religious aspects of the holiday, it has become a holiday for children, much as Christmas has. Easter egg hunts, Easter baskets, fun Easter dessert recipes…you see where I’m going with this.
Easter dessert recipes are fun not only to eat (and boy, are they ever!), but they’re fun for the whole family to make, kids included. Try any of these 14 fantastic Easter dessert recipes on for size and see if you don’t agree!
Here are a couples favorites:
Easter just is not the same without marshmallow Peeps. Get your fill of Peeps this Easter by putting them into a pie. This quick and easy dessert recipe is super sweet and perfect for Easter. This easy Easter recipe is divine.
Ingredients
- 1 cookie crumb pie crust
- 1 four-serving box blue gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half/light cream)
- 3 cups non-dairy whipped topping, cold but thawed
- 2 tablespoons Curacao or similar blue liqueur
- 15 blue Peeps
- 1 cup fresh blueberries, for garnish
Instructions
- Freeze crust while you prepare the pie filling.
- Pour one cup boiling water over gelatin in heat proof bowl. Stir to dissolve gelatin.
- Add 1 cup cold milk and liqueur. Blend well and refrigerate until gelatin has thickened, but not set firm.
- Fold in thawed topping to chilled gelatin mixture. Mix completely so that no streaks remain, but avoid overworking. Spoon filling into frozen crust.
- Snip apart each family of Peeps. Arrange in concentric circles atop pie filling. Use fresh blueberries to fill in gaps between Peeps.
- Refrigerate for at least three hours.
Cream-Filled Easter Eggs
What fun is Easter without those yummy chocolate Easter eggs? One of the best things about Easter really is the best Easter candy recipes, and these cream-filled eggs are just the thing. Everyone loves them, everyone expects them, and they’re simple to make, so hop to it!
Yields: 20
Preparation Time: 30 min
Ingredients
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 11 to 12 cups icing sugar
- food coloring
- dipping chocolate (or carob chips)
Instructions
- In large bowl, combine condensed milk, corn syrup, salt and vanilla.
- Add icing sugar in 3 or 4 batches, stirring well after each addition.
- Knead until mixture holds its shape and is smooth and pliable.
- Divide into thirds.
- Wrap 2/3 in plastic wrap; set aside. Do NOT refrigerate.
- Tint remaining 1/3 yellow and roll into balls (yolks); chill 30 minutes.
- Divide remaining white mixture into 20 pieces.
- Flatten each slightly and wrap around yellow yolks to form egg shapes.
- Place eggs on tray; cover with plastic wrap. Chill 4 hours.
- Make dipping chocolate (recipe below).
Dipping Chocolate
- 4 packages semi-sweet chocolate squares
- 2/3 cup vegetable shortening
- Melt the chocolate and shortening together, stirring well.
- Using a fondue fork, dip the eggs into the chocolate, then place on waxed paper to set.
