Here in the midwest, where we celebrate all 4 seasons, bbq weather is coming to an end. Sometime the next month or so, most people will be packing away their grilling utensils until next year. Sure, the weather could hold out a while longer, but in general Labor Day marks the end of grilling season. There’s nothing that says summer quite like a grilled piece of meat or vegetable. And my mom has always said it’s the only time she can rely on my dad to do a little cooking!
Here are some fabulous grilling recipes that your friends and family will enjoy as we wind down grilling season and enter the cool autumn climate.
BBQ Chicken Thighs with Sweet Spice Rub – The great thing about chicken thighs is that they are difficult to overcook, which means they’re great for a slow cook on the grill. Let them marinate in the sweet rub and leave them on the fire while you play a round of bocce ball with the family.
Chicken Shwarma – A great Mediterranean treat you can enjoy on the grill! Serve with pita and hummus or on a skewer like a kabob. You can’t go wrong.
Grilled Corn on the Cob – A summertime classic, grilled corn on the cob will be a hit at your party. Make sure not to overcook it, mushy corn is gross!
Plum-Glazed Pork Kabobs – For the classier grill master, serve these pork kabobs at your event and your guests will be impressed.
Grilled Veggies – Make a double batch, these will go fast! Nothing is better than a delicious vegetable that packs very few calories! Grilled veggies are the perfect compliment to any grilled meal, and you won’t even miss the potato chips.
